Another Énergia Award

Bouthillette Parizeau was thrilled to receive an award in the Recommissioning category at the 22nd Énergia Gala, which was held on Wednesday February 1st.

The winning project: improving energy efficiency at Our Lady of Peace School, a 2 000 m2 building, built in 1968. The school is part of the Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier School Board (Laval, Laurentides and Lanaudière).

Programming and operation of existing systems were optimized: stop/start commands for ventilation and evacuators, start-up of the electric boiler, decrease of temperature during unoccupied periods, and others. No equipment has been replaced.

Results speak for themselves! Energy intensity dropped from 1.03 to 0.66 GJ/m2, a decrease of 36%, which was gained without sacrificing indoor air quality.

With yearly recurrent energy savings of $8,000, the investment will pay for itself in 2.1 years.

Congratulations to Judith Michaud, Eng., who was in charge of the project.

The Énergia awards are presented annually by the Association québécoise pour la maîtrise de l'énergie (AQME).
